Women's Peace Walk 2003

When we first organized in 2003, the purpose of WOMEN’S PEACE WALK was to promote an experience of peace. By walking silently together through our town, we aspired to show what peace looked like, sounded like, behaved like and felt like. Our message was and is in the experience itself. We are not connected with a political party, faith, or particular philosophy, but are unified in our passion for peace.
Although we no longer walk publicly as a group, we all endeavor to recreate that feeling of peacefulness in every step we take. Changing our outer world begins with changing our inner world.
"We walk as a prayer for peace; a prayer centered in our desire for inner as well as world peace. We walk for self- understanding, out of which comes conscientious action. We walk to cultivate community. This walk is a moving meditation centered in each of our own quests for inner peace, as well as our collective desire to actively participate in creating a world where we can live together equitably and harmoniously."
www.walkforpeace.org"Take my hand. We will walk. We will only walk. We will enjoy our walk without thinking of arriving anywhere.
Walk peacefully. Walk happily. Our walk is a peace walk. Our walk is a happiness walk."
